About Camp Pasquaney

At Pasquaney boys from twenty-three different states and eight other countries (in 2019) and from many economic and cultural backgrounds discover that play and fun are strongest when built on the traditional values of honesty, kindness, ethical leadership. friendship, and initiative. On Newfound Lake, one of the clearest lakes in the country, campers sail, row in shells, dive, canoe, and swim. Up the hill, with spectacular views of the lake and mountains, the boys play baseball and tennis, craft wood projects in the shop, study natural history, and perform on stage. Without the electronic distractions of computers, cell phones, and radios, Pasquaney concentrates on character, competence, and community. Adults and peers encourage boys to find their best selves by learning from the wisdom of the ages and from the examples of older campers and counsellors. They stress honesty, integrity, humor, thoughtfulness, and doing for others. Activities are seen as means to these ends rather than as ends in themselves. The forty-nine-day session provides time to develop life-long friendships, confidence, and leadership. Pasquaney builds initiative and asks boys to shape their days by choosing from activities announced each morning or afternoon. As a not-for-profit camp, Pasquaney offers a tuition far lower than the cost per boy. Tuition covers approximately 55% of the cost with the remainder made up by donations of alumni, parents, and friends. The 3:1 camper-to-counsellor ratio allows the counsellors to work closely with each boy.
