Proposed Changes to DES Regulations for 2018

The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is revisiting the current regulation governing youth camps, Env-Wq 900, this year.  By state law all regulations have an assigned “sunset” time of ten years for review, and the current DES Youth Camps regulations are currently subject for review and approval in 2017.  These proposed changes would not go in effect until 2018.

NH Camps is currently working closely with DES and Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS) in reviewing any proposed changes or updates to the current regulations.  We have had Jocelyn Weldon, from DES and Heather Kiley, NH Camps Vice President speak to many Camp Directors at this year’s NHCDA Fall Conference about the proposed changes.

We would like all camps to have the opportunity to review the most current draft of Env-Wq 900 and send any comments, concerns or questions they may have on the proposed update to either Heather Kiley at hkiley@ayf.com or Rick Kone at rick.kone@nhcamps.org.

To assist you in the evaluation of this document.  Heather Kiley has created a summary of the proposed changes.  This summary will help you read only the areas that are being revised.

We ask again that if you have any questions in regards to licensing or regulations to direct them to us at NH Camps, so we can continue the healthy dialogue with the state agencies through the appropriate channels on behalf of you and your camp.

Thank you for supporting NH Camps and for your diligence in reviewing these important documents that will govern Youth Camps into the next decade.  Please take a moment to review the documents below.
