Legislative Update – June 26, 2020

The Senate will meet again in session on June 29 and the House will meet on June 30. The Senate will deal with a few remaining bills while the House will take up about two dozen bills passed by the Senate last week. The House may only concur or non-concur with the Senate changes to House bills. Only a majority vote is needed for approval. If the House non-concurs those bills will die since there will be no conference committees this year. Bills that the House concurs with will then go to the Governor after the enrollment process.

Governor Sununu has said he will likely veto a number of bills including one on unemployment, HB 1166,  which he said would be “a disaster”.

These are expected to be the last regular legislative sessions of the year. However, there is a possibility that there could be a special session to deal with budget shortfalls.
